The 2006 RallyOnce again we were lucky with the weather, as it was warm but cloudy, so did not get too hot for the dogs. Unfortunately, though, the Rally clashed with an England match in the World Cup as well as the Canadian Grand Prix, so there were not many people attending, but there were full bookings for the heart testing which went on all day. The sausage search was easily won by James McKendry, who found 26 of the 50 hidden around the venue, but he still found time to take lots of photographs,
There were several other breeds in attendance besides the wolfhounds, and one Border Terrier puppy in particular stole the show, being bouncy, friendly, and completely unfazed by the size of most of the other dogs present.
Marianne Dore, a veterinary nurse from a specialist referral clinic - Prymak Referrals of Yateley, Hants., which specialises in reconstructive surgery - gave a talk on canine blood donors. More Miranda Brace gave a talk/demonstration on grooming, which included advice on skin and coat care, dealing with bursitis, the use of a range of grooming tools, and much more.
The Match was judged by Alex Bennett. The winner of the Puppy Match was Julia McKendry's 7 month old Ronan:-
Lunch and refreshments were provided free. The Raffle was very well supported, with some 600 tickets being sold. The breed history display was laid out in the hall, taking up almost half the available space as it keeps on growing:-
Dr. Serena Brownlie worked hard all day, doing extensive heart checks.
James McKendry won the Scramble:-
